EVENTS.The University of Idaho Society of Women Engineers section plans and hosts two major outreach events each year. Our first event is Women in Engineering Day in the fall semester. In the spring we host Women in Engineering Exploratorium. We also plan smaller events throughout the year for local students.

Women of Engineering DayDate: October 18, 2019
Age group: High school junior and senior girls What is it? The goal of the program is to encourage young women in high school to consider careers in engineering. Women in Engineering Day participants often show an aptitude and interest in majoring in technical fields. This workshop provides the opportunity for students to explore the different fields of engineering through hands-on activities, exposure to current engineering students, faculty, and professionals. |
Women in Engineering ConferenceDate: November 7-9, 2019
Attendees from University of Idaho: University of Idaho SWE members What is it? "WE19’s theme, We Live>We Learn>We Lead is rooted in the notion that all women engineers, are consistently learning and serving as leaders. The conference itself leads the way by being the largest gathering of women engineers across all major engineering disciplines. Facing challenges and breaking through barriers is something SWE has done since its inception in 1950. 2019 and WE19 will be no exception. |
Women in Engineering ExplorationDate: February 2020 TBD
Age group: High school freshmen and sophomore girls What is it? This event is designed for girls who are interested in engineering but want to better understand the field through hands-on activities and experience with the disciplines. WIEE also provides opportunities to interact with students, actual female alumni who are engineers and U of I Engineering programs. |

Clean Up Fundraising DATE 1: AUG. 31, 2019 Time 1: 8:30 - 10:30 pm DATE 2: SEPT. 28, 2019 Time 2: 1:30 - 3:30 pm DATE 3: OCT. 26, 2019 Time 3: 7:30 - 9:30 pm This is a fundraising event that helps us provide snacks for meetings and funds to attend national conference. Our SWE section will be paid for cleaning up after the volleyball games on the listed dates above. |
Girl Scout Outreach DATE: February 21, 2019 Outreach to local girl scout troops to assist them in attaining engineering related badges and explain what engineering is. We plan on reaching out to multiple troops in the area including Moscow, Pullman, and others. |

Heavy civil projects are not normally performed on buildings and may include new projects, additions to existing projects, alterations, or maintenance and repairs. This includes construction of sewers, roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other large government and city projects.
