Outreach |
Conference |
At the University of Idaho, our section plans two main outreach events each year for high school girls to attend and learn more about opportunities in engineering. We also plan other outreach events throughout the year such as engineering projects with local elementary school children and Girl Scout troops. To learn more, go to the "Events" tab.
Professional DevelopmentEvery spring semester, the University of Idaho hosts a networking event called the Women in Engineering Networking Night. This event includes a dinner and allows members to interact with faculty within the College of Engineering and industry members from the community. A new guest speaker is invited every year, and last year we had the dean of the College of Engineering at Boise State University, JoAnn Slama Lighty.

Each year our section sends a group of members to the society meeting, WE. It is hosted in a different location each year. Over 14,000 members attend the three-day conference, making it the largest women in engineering event of its kind. The annual conference allows members to network with peers from around the world. This conference includes professional development workshops, inspirational speakers, and the largest career fair at a conference.
Mentorship ProgramUniversity of Idaho SWE section has implemented a mentorship program between our members. We hope to provide a comfortable and inclusive environment for students to come together and develop a support network to rely on throughout their college career and beyond. We also provide opportunities to create mentorships with faculty as well as professionals in industry.
